Joining an Employer's Heath Plan for Maternity Coverage

It may be a drastic and life changing consideration, but getting a job could be one way to get maternity insurance coverage. Under the law, pregnancy can not be a pre-existing condition that excludes you from obtaining coverage. If you can find an employer with a group insurance plan that covers maternity, then you can join the plan to gain coverage.
Make sure to find out the details of the employer's plan and if they are self-insured or have real insurance. A self-insured employer can not exclude you for pregnancy, but there could be waiting periods in the plan you will have to wait through.
